Remember that really sweet bike your neighbor got for Christmas that the sun always seemed to hit just right? Yeah, well I was that neighbor, and the bike was a GT. For as long as I can remember, GT bikes have been synonymous with cool. But the best part about having a GT wasn't that it just looked cool, but you could make that thing dance like Swayze if you wanted to. Bunny hops, wheelies, endos , you name it! It was the perfect mix of design and function, making it an all-around beast that would slay any competitor on the street, the park, or the mountain. And if you just wanted to cruise around your hood, it would do just that...but with mad style.
GT Bicycles, the company, has a 30 year heritage of building 1st class bikes. When we got the opportunity to work with them on creating a collection of GT shirts, we were honored and didn't even think twice...we were all over it! GT hooked us up with some vintage artwork they had locked away in their vault, we added a little Local Celebrity flavoring to it, and together we created a delicious collection vintage-inspired GT shirts that are sure to bring you back to rad days. Check out the shirts below. These are all limited edition, and will be collectors items.
Check out Collin Evans riding for GT...rockin' the new shirts...
Christmas just ended, but it's about to be Christmas all over again tonight for MMA fans, which I have been since the early days of Tank Abott and Mark Kerr. If I had to bet a slice of pizza (Papa John's cheese w/ garlic sauce) on the winners of this crazy sport here's who I'd take, and why.
Rashad Evans vs. Forrest Griffen
-Winner: Forrest by decision.
-Why: Rashad stacks up to Forrest similar to how Rampage did: Rashad is faster, a better natural athlete, and has nasty KO power in all his strikes, but Forrest has the heart of a gorilla and that “special” style that is difficult to prepare for. I think if Forrest can make it through the 3rd round, then he will be able to grind out a decision by the end of the 5th.
Antonio Nogueira vs. Frank Mir
-Winner: Nogueira to KO Mir in 2nd round
-Why: I think they will cancel out each others jiu jitsu, and the match will be won with a different element of the game. I think it's going to be cardio and strikes. Mir's cardio has historically drained fast when he has to stand up.
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Wanderlei “the Axe Murderer” Silva
-Wanderlei by 3rd round KO
-Why: History. Wanderlei has fought Rampage twice and won twice. I think Wanderlei has Quinton’s number the same way Quinton has Chuck’s number, the same way Chuck has Tito’s number, and the same way Tito has Shamrock's number.
We'll have follow up commetary before the next UFC.
Shout outs to Chris Reilly, Cieara, and everyone over at Legends in Hollywood, and to the Tap Out boys - we had fun partying with you at the YRB event the other night! You guys are building an awesome brand - keep it up!
If you were a super cool, super cute ghost, what kind of t-shirts would you want to see yourself on? Local Celebrity t-shirts, of course! So, we teamed up with the nice people from Casper to create these awesome t-shirts for all the ladies who know and love our shirts. Enjoy!
At Local Celebrity we seriously LOVE to rock out! For those of you new to LC - the majority of our staff are musicians. We've got drummers, DJs, vocalists, keyboard players, guitarists, you name it - someone here can probably play it. Sooooo, whenever we have the opportunity to collaborate with cool music companies like Schecter, you know we're probably gonna be down!
So far working with Schecter has been awesome! They're just a bunch of cool people who are all rockers themselves. We got to go and check out their headquarters in Burbank, and we were stoked to see that they're definitely not a boring corporate company. These guys are all genuine rockers, who make high-quality instruments, and are crushing their competition right now!
They knew all about Local Celebrity and trusted us to to create a t-shirt collection for modern guitar enthusiasts, so here they are! These t-shirts are all limited edition, and like a lot of our other t-shirts will be future collectors items.
We also have some really cool things planned with Schecter that we'll be telling you more about in the coming weeks, so check back often for updates, and make sure you're on the A-List so you can stay in the know.
So Jonathan stopped by our freshness factory to check out his new t-shirt collection. When we met him we were surprised at how naturally funny and outgoing he was, so we asked if we could put together a quick video for our site. He said yeah, so we had to do it fast because he had a soccer game to be at in an hour. So we literally put this together on the spot in about 30 minutes. Hope you like it. Also, be sure to check out Jonathan in his new Disney movie Bedtime Stories, and you can see his new Little Celebrity collection available here at LocalCelebrity.com and other fine retailers.
Local Celebrity has teamed up with the hilarious people over at Picnicface to bring you official Powerthirst t-shirts. These aren't your dad's tees, these are energy tees...TURBO TEES! Don't gamble on your t-shirts, go with the sure thing...Local Celebrity.
Below are the 3 shirts we designed for Picnicface based on their original Powerthirst video. After the first video became a gigantic hit all around world, College Humor asked the guys at Picnicface to create a video for them to put on their site...thus the conception of Powerthirst 2. If you appreciate random humor and wit, then you're sure to LOVE these videos, and hopefully the shirts too!
We were looking back at some of the fun things we got to work on in 2008, and we found this shirt that we made for Ashton Kutcher in honor of his memorable 30th Birthday party that Demi threw for him. If the shirt alone doesn't explain things enough for you, here's the skinny...
Back in Febuary a bunch of the biggest names in Hollywood got together to celebrate Ashton's Birthday at the Socialista bar in NYC. While everyone was having a good time and getting their party on, news got out that one of the bartenders working the party had Hepatitis A. Well needless to say, when you have guests like Roberto Cavalli, Ivanka Trump, Madonna, Bruce Willis, and a gang of other high profile celebs, someone serving drinks with Hepatitis is probably the last thing you want. That ended the event, but despite the random party foul Ashton had a great sense of humor about it, and he asked our sister-company to make him a shirt in reference to the party. Because of time constraints we weren't able to produce the shirt using our other company, so we did what we could and put the RY logo on the back of an LC tee, and made 300 shirts for Ashton and his guests to have something to laugh about.
So that's that, just a little something cool we got to in '08 that you probably didn't know about.
Los Angeles is host to some very "unique" people, and by "unique" I mean "special", and by "special" I mean "FREAKIN' WEIRD!!!" Yesterday I went to Ralphs (the only grocery store downtown) for lunch, and I saw this dude turning heads left and right and people mouthing "what the..." as he walked by. I'm pretty sure he wasn't there to shop (how do you shop when both arms are full of Lakers-loving killer dolls?!), and he seemed pretty surprised when I asked him for a pic. In fact, I was surprised they let me...escape with my life.
So we've finally launched our new site! It took us almost 9 months to finish this puppy, and it's still not 100% complete. but it feels great to have it to this point. It shouldn't have taken so long, but we've been super busy with other parts of the business, and a couple of our other brands needed a lot attention this year. This site has a lot of features our old site didn't, like: blog, videos on product pages, charity, community, and our A-List program that lets you save a lot of money (at least 20%) on every purchase, and more!
If you have a few minutes we would love for you to hit us up with feedback and any bugs that you find. Please email us at info@localcelebrity.comif you find anything, and please be sure to let us know what browser you use.
We hired 12 new seriously amazing people this year - bringing our full-time staff to 20, and we desperately needed more space. This is pic of our new freshness factory that is being renovated. Oh yes!
It's crazy to think that we started this thing from a little stable at our grandma's ranch just a few years ago. This is our 3rd move in 3 years, so hopefully we'll be able to park it here for a while.
